Enterprising Women

What We Do

"Providing women in Glasgow with the knowledge and skills to pursue a business idea"

The Enterprising Women team provide women with the opportunity to consider becoming self-employed. Women can use any combination of the services to help them make an informed choice about whether or not to go into business for themselves.

Who We Help

Enterprising women is funded by Glasgow City Council and has the remit of helping women across the city who are at the pre start up stages with a business idea. Our aim is to help increase the number of women considering self-employment as an option and subsequently increase the number of women taking forward their ideas and starting up in business.

Any woman who is at the "thinking about it" stage can access support and guidance about moving on to the next stage. Absolutely no prior knowledge is necessary and help is available to analyse the skills needed to go into business and to assess the viability of a business idea.

If researching an idea and developing essential skills is the primary aim then enterprising women can provide valuable assistance. For women who are further on with their plans and are looking for start up advice and support enterprising women can help signpost in the right direction.

Training

Enterprising women run pre business start up supported training programmes, which help equip you with the initial skills and knowledge to move your business idea forward to the start up stage. These courses run throughout the year, are free and are open to any female who lives in Glasgow. Childcare and travel expenses are available.

You should have a desire to run your own business and still be at the early stages to benefit from this course. Places are open to the unemployed, employed and students and we particularly welcome applications from those who have been out of the labour market for a long period of time or have additional barriers to overcome.

The courses are relaxed and informal and we do not assume any knowledge prior to beginning the course. The course is flexible and is delivered as both day and evening options usually for one night/day per week for the duration of the course. The programme is normally delivered on a Tuesday but please contact us as this could vary. The day course runs between 10am and 2.30pm with the evening course running between 6pm and 8.30pm.

If you would like any further information on the course or the dates of future programmes, please contact us by phone or email.
