Abbey
Charitable Trust
Grants of up to £20,000 (more typically £4,000) are available
to charities (particularly smaller and/or local charities) that support disadvantaged
people, for example through local regeneration projects that encourage cross-community
partnerships. The Trust has a particular interest in Glasgow. Apply at any time.
Comic Relief
Small grants of up to £5,000 are available for schemes,
ideas and activities run by people who live in communities affected by poverty
and disadvantage to change things for the better, to get improved services for
their communities, to become more involved in local decision making and to run
their community groups more effectively. Funding can be used for running costs,
including core costs, and as contributions towards equipment and simple refurbishments
to community buildings. Apply at any time.
Forward-Scotland
Forward Scotland offers around £7m in grants to Scottish community groups each
year, including administering grants through the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme
on behalf of Patersons Quarries to organisations in south east Glasgow and environs.

Smith Charity
The Charity will consider funding projects that provide
support for communities in areas of considerable deprivation
including ethnic minority groups. This could include projects providing
employment for the disadvantaged, shelter and necessities of life such as furniture
for the homeless, or work with offenders.
Lloyds
TSB Foundation for Scotland
The Foundation aims to support charities throughout
Scotland which help people, especially those who are disadvantaged or disabled,
to play a fuller role in their community.
The Rank Foundation
Scottish Community Action Research Fund
Supports community-led research. Grants can be used to
pay for skills training, help and advice from experienced researchers, payments
for community members carrying out research (including expenses), publishing
the research and holding events.
Scottish
Community Foundation
The Foundation awards grants to help improve the quality
of life and life chances for the people of Scotland through funding a wide range
of social welfare and community development activities.
The Tudor
Trust
Until 31 March 2006, the Tudor Trust is only accepting
applications from organisations that it has awarded a grant to during the past
five years. New guidelines are being launched on 1 April 2006. The Trust says
it will still be a generalist trust, funding widely across the social welfare
field in the UK.
Wider Action:
Communities Scotland “Wider Role”
£3m is available each year in Glasgow to assist Registered
Social Landlords (RSLs) such as housing associations to develop
projects that improve the economic, social and environmental
circumstances of the local communities within which RSLs operate.
