Older People

Age Concern Scotland
Small equipment grants of up to £500 are available to voluntary organisations working for the benefit of older people in Scotland. Age Concern Scotland member organisations can apply for a range of larger grants. Apply at any time.

Allen Lane Foundation
Local charities with annual incomes under £100,000 are eligible to apply for small grants for work which makes a lasting difference to people’s lives, reduces isolation, stigma and discrimination and encourages or enables unpopular groups to share in the life of the whole community. Older people are a particular priority.

Balance Charitable Foundation
Grants of up to £80,000 are available to UK charities working with older people over 75 at risk from social exclusion. Outline applications should be submitted by 20 April 2006.

Comic Relief

Dunhill Medical Trust
The Trust supports research into the care of the elderly and the provision of accommodation and care for the elderly as well as medical research and provision of medical care and facilities.

Glasgow Housing Association
GHA has committed over £11 million in 2006/07 to support community regeneration in Glasgow. One of the eight aims is to support older and vulnerable GHA tenants in their homes by providing access to appropriate targeted services. Improving health, providing warm, dry homes that are affordable to heat, financial inclusion and community safety are some of the other aims which affect older people.

Henry Smith Charity
Supports projects for the relief of the elderly, such as housing or support services, particularly in needy areas.

Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland
(The Foundation aims to support charities throughout Scotland which help people, especially those who are disadvantaged or disabled, to play a fuller role in their community.)

The Robertson Trust
One of the four priority areas for the Trust is Care e.g. residential homes and day care centres for older people however, applications will be considered from most fields of charitable activity for work which takes place in, or has an impact on, Scotland. Apply at any time.

Tesco Charity Trust “Community Awards”
Offers one-off grants of between £1,500 and £5,000 to local organisations in areas where Tesco has stores. Elderly people is a particular priority for the Trust. Apply in writing by 30 June each year.

The Tudor Trust
Until 31 March 2006, the Tudor Trust is only accepting applications from organisations that it has awarded a grant to during the past five years. New guidelines are being launched on 1 April 2006. The Trust says it will still be a generalist trust, funding widely across the social welfare field in the UK.
