Big
Lottery Fund
The new UK-wide Research Grants programme is due to
open again in March 2006. It will aim to influence local and national policy
and practice by funding the production and dissemination of evidence-based
knowledge.
Big Lottery Fund – Investing in Ideas
Grants of between £500 and £10,000 are now available
to groups in Scotland to test and develop ideas that could eventually become
fully-fledged projects. Apply at any time.
Richard Dimbleby Cancer Fund
Cancer care research projects that tackle anxiety,
depression and other symptoms related to the condition are the focus of this
new £1m fund.
Dunhill Medical Trust
The Trust supports medical research and provision of
medical care and facilities as well as research into the care of the elderly
and the provision of accommodation and care for the elderly.
Esmée Fairbairn Foundation
The Foundation’s Education programme is keen to test
new approaches to teaching and learning which will improve the quality, breadth
and relevance of learning for young people (aged 0 – 16) in pre-school and
statutory education. Work supported should lead to a lasting influence on
policy and/or practice. The Foundation’s Environment programme also aims to
stimulate changes in policy, planning and practice to achieve a low carbon
economy and/or sustainable food systems.
The Health Foundation
The Foundation supports projects, research and evaluation
studies to test and measure new ways of improving health services for the
future.
Sir Halley Stewart Trust
The Trust supports innovative research activities with
the emphasis on prevention rather than alleviation of human suffering. Current
priority areas are religious, social / educational and medical.
Scottish
Community Action Research Fund
Supports community-led research. Grants can be used
to pay for skills training, help and advice from experienced researchers,
payments for community members carrying out research (including expenses),
publishing the research and holding events.
