Young People

BBC Children In Need
Grants are given for good quality, carefully planned projects that make a positive difference to the lives of very disadvantaged children and young people up to 18 years old. Two deadlines each year (30 March and 30 November).

Big Lottery Fund "Young People's Fund Scotland"
This new programme will award grants from £5,000 upwards for new or expanded activities to benefit young people who are mostly aged between 11 and 25. Apply by 31 August 2007

Camelot Foundation
The Foundation has 4 main programmes of work, all of which focus on young people who have slipped out of the mainstream of society or who are in danger of doing so.

Clore Duffield Foundation
The Clore Small Grants Programme aims to provide children and young people (aged 0 – 18) across the UK with opportunities to experience performing arts education at its best.

Comic Relief
Comic Relief is focusing its support on young people aged between 11 and 21 who have mental health problems, alcohol problems, abused through prostitution or trafficking, affected by domestic violence and/or homeless.

Communities Scotland “Wider Role”
£3m is available each year in Glasgow to assist Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) such as housing associations to develop projects that improve the economic, social and environmental circumstances of the local communities within which RSLs operate.

Girls on the Move
Grants of up to £5,000 are available to recognised Scottish charities working with young people who wish to find new ways of encouraging girls and young women aged between 9 and 18 to become physically active and improve their general well being and self-esteem. No deadlines.

Glasgow City Council “Childcare Strategy”
Funding totalling £7m a year to sustain, expand and enhance childcare provision in Glasgow (including provision for young people aged 12-14). The next deadline for applying is 12 May 2006.

Laidlaw Youth Project
Encourages and funds good ideas for collaborative working aimed at supporting vulnerable children and / or young people in Scotland.

Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland
The Foundation aims to support charities throughout Scotland which help people, especially those who are disadvantaged or disabled, to play a fuller role in their community.

The MacRobert Trust
Grants are only given to charities, with a preference for those in Scotland. Youth is one of the current major categories supported.

Paul Hamlyn Foundation
The Foundation aims to open up the arts and education to everyone, but particularly to young people.

The Pilgrim Trust
40% of the Trust’s support goes to Social Welfare projects every year, including projects that assist and support people involved in alcohol or drugs misuse. Trustees have a special interest in the provision of specialist services for young people, for those from black or ethnic minority groups and for women with multiple needs and would look favourably at new models of service provision for these groups. Projects in prisons and projects providing alternatives to custody are also supported, particularly those assist prisoners to acquire new skills or give support to their families.

Project Scotland
Provides financial support to enable full-time volunteers aged between 16 and 25 to spend at least 30 hours a week volunteering. Placements should run for 3 – 12 months normally.

The Rank Foundation
The Foundation invests widely in youth programmes throughout the UK.

The Robertson Trust
Supports a wide range of charitable objects for work which benefits Scotland, including projects for young people with special needs, youth training and general youth work.

The Tudor Trust
Until 31 March 2006, the Tudor Trust is only accepting applications from organisations that it has awarded a grant to during the past five years. New guidelines are being launched on 1 April 2006. The Trust says it will still be a generalist trust, funding widely across the social welfare field in the UK.
